James La Fata

James La Fata graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1994 and worked for three years as a CPA with the firm of Ernst & Young, LLP. He then attended the University of New Mexico’s School of Law, graduating in 2002, and received his Masters of Taxation from the University of Florida one year later. He is admitted to practice law before the courts of New Mexico and Illinois, and before the Federal District Court for the District of New Mexico.

His practice is concentrated in tax controversy and dispute matters, including audits, appeals, claims for refund, collection and collection alternatives, and representation of taxpayers in federal and state criminal tax investigations. Mr. La Fata also practices in the areas of Social Security, Estate Planning, Business Planning, Probate, Estate Administration, Trusts and Estates, Wills and Probate, Asset Protection, Tax Planning, Closely Held Business, Corporate Law, Limited Liability Company Law, Partnerships and Small Business.
